geometric flower and leaf designs and the borders repeat the flower and leaf motifs in more naturalistic forms

the red weft and the diamond-shaped mihrab are all characteristic of the weaving tradition in this area which may have begun as early as the seventeenth century

There is a patch of colour variation across the ground which is a producf of how the light falls on the pile and is more visible from some angles than others

Dark green spandrels. Medium low pile. Long fringes. Oversewing lost from one edge and slight loss to one end. 205 x 149cm
